When you call the Iams Pet Imaging Center to setup an appointment you will receive instructions to ensure your pet is prepared for his MRI. Upon arrival, you will meet with our highly trained staff. Your pet will be given a pre-anesthesia exam and then sedated. The MRI itself can be very loud and could startle your pet so the anesthesia will ensure that he is motionless and comfortable during the scan. Throughout the entire exam his vital signs will be closely monitored. Afterwards your pet will wake up in our comfortable recovery room by your side.
Your veterinarian and our radiologist will then carefully analyze the results from the MRI. These results may help your veterinarian confidently determine the appropriate next step in the care of your pet. |
The Iams Pet Imaging Center is solely dedicated to providing MRI for pets. The Center features the same type of imaging and patient monitoring equipment that you might find in a human hospital. This allows for a fast scan time with very high quality images. Our imaging center is staffed with a veterinarian and highly skilled support staff who, along with our veterinary radiologist provide the highest level of care for your pet. |
Iams Pet Imaging Center currently has three centers located in California, North Carolina, and Washington DC. The addresses and contact information can be found under the tab titled 'Contact Us'. Once you have a referral from a veterinarian for an MRI scan, please contact the appropriate center to schedule an appointment; expect two hours from arrival time to departure time. Before arriving DO NOT FEED your pet. Your pet should not have any food after 10pm the evening before the scan. In the morning your pet should not have any water four hours before your scheduled scan time. |
